City of Maryville Electric and TVA EnergyRight® Partner to Offer Home Uplift to the Community6/29/2021 Qualifying homeowners can receive free home energy upgrades
City of Maryville electric announced a new partnership with TVA EnergyRight® to offer the Home Uplift program to 26 income-qualified homeowners in the Maryville/ Blount County community. Through Home Uplift, participating homeowners can receive free home energy upgrades that increase the energy efficiency and comfort of their homes while lowering their energy bills. In addition to receiving energy upgrades installed by a member of the TVA-trained Quality Contractor Network, Home Uplift participants also receive energy education focused on empowering homeowners to take control of their energy use through low-cost and no-cost energy-saving techniques. Qualifying households must meet federal Weatherization Assistance Program income requirements (200% of the federal poverty level or below), undergo an energy audit, be the primary account holder of active electrical service for one year, and own and occupy their home or live in a home owned by a partnering housing authority. Upgrades typically made through the program include HVAC repair/replacement, insulation, air penetration reduction, replacing windows and doors, as well as minor health and safety repairs that enable energy upgrades. Applications will be available by calling 888-986-7262 or emailing [email protected]. Due to limited funding, qualified participants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. “We are proud to partner with the city of Maryville to change lives one home at a time,” said Cindy Herron, vice president of Energy Services & Programs for TVA. “By investing in home energy upgrades, we are helping our neighbors save money on their power bills, live healthier, and enjoy a better quality of life.” Director of Maryville Public Utilities Baron Swafford said, “We look forward to leveraging this partnership to help members of our community with important upgrades in keeping with the city of Maryville’s mission to provide an excellent quality of life for our residents.” ABOUT TVA The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for business customers and local power distributors serving nearly 10 million people in parts of seven southeastern states. TVA receives no taxpayer funding, deriving virtually all of its revenues from sales of electricity. In addition to operating and investing its revenues in its electric system, TVA provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists local power companies and state and local governments with economic development and job creation.
